12. Suggestions for club activites in 2004:
'Have the Air Force Base and Navy come in.'
'Visit members private landings and hangers in the countryside to do some hanger flying and have a good time.'
'Builder's workshops and show-and-tell from other builders.'
'Get involed with the local firedept.with planes (show
them where the stuff is at in a plane'
'FLY IN TO DIFFERENT AIRPORTS, QUINCY, THOMASVILLE
QUITMAN,
WAKULLA, JEFFERSON LANDING, ETC'
'I have two "Aviation Interests" other than the ones shown for
selection...
One is proficiency flights....landings, instrument work,
emergency procedures, basic air work, safety pilot for others, DR-type
navigation (pilotage)...I like to do those types of things when I
can.
The other, along the lines of hangar talk, is safety discussions
that include reviews of actual incidents that may appears in flying magazines or
the NASA reports.
'Try to get a seminar in unusual Attitudes or aerobatics! I can't stress how valuable this type of training is for ALL pilots! Stall Spin Awareness and Wake Turbulence can sometimes remind pilots that airplanes fly in ALL SORTS of attitudes not just Straight and Level. Also is there enough interest within the chapter to consider purchasing an airplane now? With 50 plus members there may be enough to have some members purchase shares of an airplane. Who knows :) One thing that is fun to do and when I am with a pilot who has experience is formation flying! Formation flying is not just flying close to another airplane there are certain precautions and techniques that should be used in order to make formation flying as safe and as fun as possible! During the summertime when i can actually come to an EAA Chapter meeting I'd love to discuss this for one of the programs. I have been on many formation flights and have used many of the formation flight techniques used by the EAA Warbirds of America in order to do it safely. '
'Fly/Drive In at Jefferson Landing '
'Fly-outs
Hangar Parties'
'More Flyins'
'The only way a fly-in will work at TLH is to have 18/36 "opened" for
non-tower controlled flights. Half the fun for me is watching everybody take
friends up on spur of the moment fly-by's. If the airspace could be altered the
way it is at Lakeland for Sun-n-Fun it could turn out to be better than it ever
has been.
14. Any ideas for improving Website?:
'Pictures
'A background would be great'
'I think the EAA Chapter 445 website is beyond "excellent."
I think it is a model that other flying organizations could use for a
website.'
'picture up load site for various aviation pix and cartoons shared w other eaa'
16. Any other thoughts, ideas, etc.:
'KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK'
'Great idea for a survey'
'monthly pancake breakfest flyin at tlh.(must advertise to get
pilots to come)
have two big flyins.'
Hangar Talk: I read email on selected topics, but generally feel that I
do not have a great deal to add / or comment about regarding the emails I
read.
Summary Remark not related to Hangar Talk: I am contemplating
membership in the EAA (both national and local) but have not made a decision
yet. This is not a criticism....I belong to some organizations (both local and
national) but rarely attend the meetings. Membership in the EAA would to me,
imply a need or requirement to be more supportive than I am of the other
organizations to which I refer.
'This survey is an excellent tool for improving what appears to be an excellent organization.'
' I appreciate the tremendous strides made in the last year toward increasing Chapter meeting attendance and generating new activities. However, since becoming a member in 1992 I have felt that someting was missing and, to some extent, it still is. As a Chapter we have very little in the way of building or restoration activity. Few of us own planes, althought the number of active pilots/renters is up. As a result, our activities as a Chapter are more social, rather than airplane oriented. It would be great if we could somehow manage to have more "hands on" activities, whatever that means. However, without a maintenance hangar or site available we seem to be in a bind. How great it would be to have a place where we could do owner/operator maintenance with other members there to give advice, encouragement, etc. Things like an oil change or battery maintenance or my current project - an interior restoration. '
'Thanks John for the website. I know how difficult it can be to keep up to dare but I, for one, appreciate it.'
