Fly a Controller

Several years ago Angela Green came up with a way to thank the folks we trust with our lives and at the same time get to know them a little better.

The idea is if to invite a controller to fly with you the next time you have an empty seat.

The best way to do this is call the facility at (850) 942-9642 when you plan to fly and ask  if anyone is interested in a flight or can be released from
work to fly.

Ron Fisher (FAA, ETSU, Air Traffic Manager, TLH ATCT) will let the Front Line Managers know they may receive a call from EAA members concerning flights.

 Who Said this?

"Learning to fly was a work of art. I'm so passionate about flying I often fly up the coast for a cheeseburger. Flying is like good music; it elevates the spirit and it's an exhilarating freedom."

Back to the Basics

Vince Lombardi as the new coach of the Green Bay Packers was said  to have blown the whistle after a frustrating practice and called all the players and coaches to gather around.  Then he knelt down, picked up a football , and said, "Let's start at the beginning. This is a football.

In May we will be going back to Quincy for a return to our roots, the basics of what an EAA fly-in is all about.   Kelley, Ed and I met with the Quincy-Gadsden Airport Authority Monday night and they are very enthusiastic about our return.

We are grateful to all the folks at TLH who welcomed and worked with us over the past six years.   A special thank you to Dallas Tucker who was one of our strongest advocates.

I’m hoping this change of venue will help energize the chapter and bring in some new members.  I know it's gonna be fun!

See you at the airport,

 John

Scott O'Brien Three time Master CFI

Master Instructors LLC takes pride in announcing a significant aviation accomplishment on the part of Scott O'Brien, a Tallahassee-area flight instructor and a resident Tallahassee, Florida.  Recently, Scott's accreditation as a Master CFI (Certificated Flight Instructor) was renewed by the Master Instructors LLC Board of Review, the international accrediting authority for the Master Instructor designation as well as the FAA-approved "Master Instructor Continuing Education Programä."  He first earned this national professional accreditation in 2006, has held it continuously since then, and is one of only 67 worldwide to earn the credential three times.

Subject: Naval Air Museum trip (Mar 27-28)

Fellow EAAers,

I have gotten a few responses so far, but we still would like to get a few more members involved in this event.  I have secured a block of rooms in the Navy Lodge, across the street from the museum, for those wishing to stayon the Naval Station ($62).  There currently are three aircraft planning to fly and one passenger seat still open. I will need to supply them names soon so if you are interested in making this trip, fly or drive, please let me know as soon as possible.

Pancake fly-in to Moultrie

Thanks to everyone who participated in the pancake fly-in to Moultrie on Saturday!  We had an exciting flight with 7 airplanes total between the FSU Seminole Flying Club and the EAA Chapter 445.  A special thanks to our EAA pilot friends who donated some extra seats for the flight up.

We look forward to another fly-in weekend soon----possibly this coming weekend?!  Stay tuned!

Keep the blue side up,
Mike Turner
