EAA445's Official Electronic
Newsletter It's Been a Good Run For personal reasons I have decided it's in the best interest for me and the chapter if I step down as President. This was not a decision I took lightly and I will miss seeing you all on a monthly basis. The board of directors will appoint a new President to take over until the election in November. I am confident the board will pick a replacement that will have the best interest of the chapter in mind. I have enjoyed working, playing and learning from all of you over the years. John

June Picture of the Month
This is a photo of the british Tiger Moth and was taken at the Quincy fly-in by Kelley Phillips. It was voted best picture of the fly-in by those who responded to a pole. A close second was this photo also taken by Kelley Phillips
Some really hard choices here, as all are good pics. But trying to narrow it down, I had to choose between #1, Bill and the happy young lady and the picture of the sun setting beyond the biplane, although I hope that picture doesn't signify the sun setting on general aviation as some seem to believe. But in the end I think it has to be Bill and the young lady. That smile on her face gives us hope and encouragement for what aviation means to those of us who fly, and what it can mean to future generations. So for me, it's picture # 1. Ironic isn't it, that the winning photo for me was in a light sport aircraft, as was the J-3 I learned to fly in. Just didn't know it was light sport at the time.
Regards, Marty Shingler
