EAA445's Official Electronic Newsletter

February 2010

Hard to believe it's  February already. The Quincy Fly-in will be here before we know it.  Ed Copes has agreed to head it up this year and the planning is already under way.  We think it's gonna be a lot more laid back than the last 6 years at TLH.

We will discuss the fly-in in addition to a presentation on in flight emergencies at our next meeting  Tuesday Feb 9th.

Hope to see you then,   John

EMAILS-

Hello John and Kelley -

Thank you both, once again, for a wonderful dinner, meeting and generous donations to ALS research.  Total donations last evening, before Kelley's massive book order for local schools, was $640, superb for ALS.

Thank you both for the organization and for inviting additional groups.  I think some of the cadets were inspired.  And, it made a terrific addition to have operation migration pilots there.

Looks like it's going to warm up this weekend and we can get some flying in.

All the best for 2010 and thank you very much.

John:

Have you seen this?  Art Bruce

Filmmaker and P-51 Mustang Pilot Chris Woods has put together a wonderful film that captures the emotional reunion between a humble WWII Mustang ace (Jim Brooks) and the historic plane he thought he'd never see again.

Inspired by the flood of memories triggered by this unimaginable encounter with a long lost friend, the 88-year old pilot finally breaks his silence, sharing his stories and experiences of war with the grandchildren who never thought they'd hear them.

Wood's interviews with Brooks, his grandchildren, and other airmen who were touched by the Mustang's role in history are cut together to create a compelling narrative that is framed in stunning high-definition photography.

ASB.TV loves beautifully done aviation storytelling films. Fellow Mustang pilot and director Chris Woods has put together one of the very best! Watch for yourself and see... then go to the link below and order a copy of GREY EAGLES for your own.
