       A Toast to Everyone Involved

I want to thank everyone who helped make this years AirFest a huge success.  The amount of work done by everyone was amazing.  It makes me proud to be part of such a great group of people.

Ed Copes was the man in the hot seat this year and my hats off to him for all the time he spent organizing this event.  It was his idea from the start to bring in the CAF and I think that was a stroke of genius!  I hope we can
convince him to run the show again next year.

Thanks for a great AirFest!

I wanted to extend a personal note of thanks to all of the volunteers that helped make this year's AirFest a great success.  You all worked hard and long and you should all be proud of the result.

This was the largest event this Chapter has ever had, and because of you  we had a safe and fun event for everyone. The final numbers aren't in yet,
but we know we sold over 2,000 tickets and attendance was somewhere in the  3,000 to 5,000 range.  The AirFest web site had over 2,320 hits over the past 2 weeks.

We'll be having a "post-op" review soon (date and time TBA), but for now get  some rest and be proud of a job well done.

Ed Copes

Aircraft Parking

·        Need better radio/comm – use personal radios

Ride of a Lifetime

Mon May 16, 2005 09:58

I just wanted to express my thanks to the members, who selected me to take the final ride of the day yesterday in "Rednose" the P-51 Mustang.
My feet haven't hit the gorund since I landed, and I had a bit of trouble going to sleep last night, whatwith reviewing the details over and over again in my mind.
Looking back at my old AF Form Five (Flight Log), I find that my last flight was on 19 Sept 1947, fifty seven years ago. But,as you all know, it's funny that the sounds of the engine and the feel of the controls come back quickly, it must be a "memory" that stays forever in your bones.
Stan Musick, my pilot, was very generous in turning that precious aircraft over to me, so, after some very conservative air work, I chose to do the low pass and chandelle up to the downwind for landing, which I had been admiring during the two days of AirFest. I did actually manage it, but with no near the "panache" of his.

Again, thanks to all for the memory of a lifetime,

Tom Baldwin

Comments about Airfest 2005

Winston Scott:

I would like to add my compliments to EAA445 for the outstanding Airfest. It was fantastic. Thanks for allowing me to be a part this event.
Sincerely,
Winston

Lisa Remillard, Ch 27 News:
Thank you so much for all your help yesterday.  The story was a HUGE success.
And I've been getting a ton of viewer email about your organization and from
parents interested in Young Eagles.  I look forward to working with you again!!!

Thanks!!!
Lisa Remillard

Terry Fregley:

I feel like I got hit by a truck and only did a fraction of what the the rest of the EAA did for airfest. So I am sure you are in recovery too. Thanks for your efforts was beyond my expectations.

Paul Adrien, LCAA:
The contingent from the Lake County Aviation Assn. at Leesburg Regional Airport had a great time today. Thanks for the hospitality.
The only fly in the ointment was some vandalism done to my Long-EZ...a key was pressed into the leading edge of a fuel tank, piercing the fiberglass. It was easily repaired, but points out the need for extra vigilance when airplanes are exposed to the general public. I don't know how it can be prevented.
Again, thanks for a wonderful day. See you next year!
Paul Adrien
President, LCAA

Don Bishop, Orlando, "Dreamcatcher" Tri-Pacer display:

Thanks for your e-mail.  It was very much our pleasure to be there with all of you.  We thank you very much for your hospitality.  We had a most enjoyable weekend, and even dodging the thunderstorm on the way home wasn't too bad.

We both think you have a great event, with a lot of folks working very hard to get the job done.  Sherry is planning on writing a note to the Merceded-Benz dealer this week thanking them for the event sponsorship and the use of one of their cars.

John Richmond (gave his brother from Tampa a ride in the PT-26 for his birthday), when asked if they got to the AirFest OK: Yep we sure did Ed !!

My Brother loved it !!   The whole event was GREAT, thanks for all the coordination you had done for it.

Hope to see it again next year.

Thanks again............

Andrew Flaxman, FSU student, took a ride in the P-51:
I indeed made it to the show, and on Sunday I took the ride of my life.  Stan Musik, the pilot, let me fly the plane through every maneuver I could think of, and gave me a ride I'll never forget.  As the saying goes, it was "the best thing I've done with my clothes on."  Although it was $750, I was happy that it went to helping keep the Mustang airworthy.  Thanks again for your help, and keep the airshows coming!  Although I'm leaving FSU in August, I plan on making it back for next year's events.

Safe Flying,

Andrew Flaxman

Brett Emes, CAIR Flight, Tampa:

Ed, this was the first event I have attended and I thought it was great! We made some great contacts, sold a lot of Cair Bears and I must say I really enjoyed myself.

I really don't have any suggestions because I thought the event went really
well! I really appreciate you allowing us to attend.  You can plan on us
being there next year.

Thanks so much for everything!

Henry Wiedeman, Ocala (took rides PT-26, SNJ, and P-51): The rides were awesome, especially the P-51, Stan gave me the ride of a lifetime...one I will never forget. Everything was, indeed, satisfactory
& everyone we met was so congenial & helpful ~  you, Col. Dick
Ford, John (who did the scheduling) & Pilot Stan.
It was truly a day to remember.

Scott Suttor

All I'm hearing from people who where there as spectators, is They can't wait till next year. They all seem to want more and bigger aircraft, ie C130, choppers,  etc...Great job....Scott Suttor
