Operation Raincheck. Iwill be held on Thursday, December 4, 2003 at the
Compass Point Conference Room ( Old North Terminal Building). The meeting
will begin at 6:00 PM and close at 9:30 PM. Parking will be free and there
will be prizes given out at the seminar. The program will qualify the pilot
for his/her wings and an FAA certificate will be issued for attending the
program. Topics that will be on the program will include ATC procedures and
pilot information concerning how to avoid a runway incursion, why I should
I declare an emergency, major changes in the system and weather smarts.

New ASF Single-Pilot IFR online course breaks all-time records

Nov. 7 from AOPA's website— ASF's new Single-Pilot IFR online course, introduced just three weeks ago, has already broken all previous records for pilot participation. The free interactive program recorded 4,178 graduates in the last half of October alone. That far surpasses the previous monthly record of 3,380 online course graduates, set by ASF's Know Before You Go program in June.

New Officers Elected at the November Meeting

EAA445 Christmas Dinner  - Chef Marc Dupuis will be cooking fried Turkey, Chicken Wings and Flounder.  David Lecornu will be serving up a spiral ham.  Members and guests are encouraged to bring their spouses.  A  band will be playing for your listening enjoyment. Mark your calendars for December 9th 6:30 Pm at Compass Point Meeting room. Big Bend Flying Club

 It was deceided at the last meeting that because of the Raincheck meeting Dec 4th the BBFC would not meet in December.  Also John Sivyer will be stepping down as coordinator due to his recent election to President of EAA445.  If you would like to volunteer to take over as coordinator, please call John at work 850-385-1262 or send him an e-mail at president@eaa445.org

Help Some Kids Build A Plane

There are days when the future of general aviation looks bleak to me, and I fear that the sport and even the lifestyle I love are in trouble. As the cost of flying has continued to climb, the simple fact is that fewer and fewer people get to play. In many parts of the country, new airplanes cost more than new houses. Small wonder you don’t see many young people at the airport anymore. And that’s sad because many of my most cherished childhood memories are recollections of flying all over the Southwest with my father in a Piper Clipper. more
